- Jul 8, 2008: User Accounts (by spling)
Hey everyone!
As some of you know by now, RuneScript now supports user accounts on the bot. This feature has been a long time in the making and it has a few important uses. The first reason for user accounts is security; accounts allow us to be sure that the people who have admin access to the bots aren't admins from another network just spoofing their hostmask. The second reason is accessability; people who have dynamic IPs can now login to the bot and all their settings will be saved; this is good for services like Mibbit or BNCs.
The steps to use an account with the bot are simple.
Step 1. Register a forum account.
Step 2. Set an IRC Key.
Step 3. PM RuneScript !login <ForumUsername> <IRCKey>
Both forum name AND password are case sensitive.
You may choose to import your existing settings by using !import. This only needs to be done once, and will move all of your settings from your normal address to your logged-in account. When you quit a server, you will be automatically logged out of your account on that server. You can manually log out with !logout, and you can also see your login status with !whoami.
If you have any questions or concerns about the accounts feature, feel free to talk to me on IRC or post here.
Enjoy!
